Play football tic-tac-toe
Pick a cell, name a footballer who played for both clubs in its row and column, and complete a line. Play the bot, a friend on one device, or solo.

Each cell shows one example, not the only valid answer. App boards can also include countries, leagues and other football conditions.
The rules in CrossOver
- Choose your square: read both conditions, whether clubs, a country, a league or another football category.
- Submit a footballer: the name must fit both conditions for that cell, not every club in the row.
- Claim it with a correct answer: footballers already used on the board cannot be used again.
- Connect three: horizontal, vertical and diagonal lines win. An incorrect answer or a timeout passes the turn.
Turn knowledge into a winning move
Check for a winning move, then check whether your opponent can win on the next turn. The centre belongs to four lines, corners to three and edge squares to two. But an unknown answer in the centre is not automatically better than a corner you can confidently claim.
Before using a familiar player, look at the other cells that name could solve. You might need that player for a harder intersection later. Finding an alternative for an easy square can preserve your next move.

What is football tic-tac-toe in CrossOver Football?
Football Tic-Tac-Toe is a CrossOver Football mode where you claim cells on a 3 × 3 board by naming players who connect the row and column clubs. Complete a horizontal, vertical or diagonal line of three.
- Where can I play, and is it free?
The iOS app and mobile Club × Club mode are free. Mobile Football Tic-Tac-Toe and the other Social Pack modes require an active paid Social Pack. Browser exercises on this site are free and are not the same experience as mobile matches. Android is not yet released.
- Can I play with friends or on my own?
In the mobile app, use a room code to challenge a friend or practise against a bot. Internet is required, including for bot matches. Quick Match may provide a bot when no suitable player is available.
- How are answers checked?
Answers are checked against career records, which can include loans or academy spells. A record alone does not establish a senior competitive appearance. The web archive and mobile game pool can differ.
