Football quiz and soccer trivia, built around players
CrossOver Football tests the connections between footballers and clubs. If you know the sport as soccer, the challenge is the same: recall the player, understand the career and answer the clue.
What knowledge does this quiz test?
This is association-football trivia, not an American-football game or a match-score prediction quiz. The main format asks for a player connected to two clubs. Other modes add a country, a starting letter, a career trail or an anagram.
The source archive contains 29,822 footballers and 210,745 career-spell records. Those are database counts, not active players, download totals or a promise that every record is in each game mode. The data notes explain the selected web archive and its limitations.
A ten-minute football trivia practice routine
- Two minutes: choose a familiar club in the club-pair archive and recall a name before opening a pairing.
- Three minutes: check the recorded years. Pick two connections you did not know and explain each in your own words.
- Three minutes: try a different clue type, such as the career quiz, rather than repeating the same pair.
- Two minutes: return to your missed connections without looking at the answers.
This is a suggested study routine, not a claim that ten minutes guarantees a score or ranking.
From practice to a live 1v1 challenge
Knowing the answer and recalling it under time pressure are different skills. The mobile game lets you practise with a bot or challenge a friend. Start with the shared-player rules so you understand what makes a name valid.
If you prefer word puzzles or a board, compare the footballer guessing formats. The app’s classic Club × Club mode is free on iOS, while additional social modes use the optional Social Pack.
Where do I check an answer?
The football shared-player finder shows recorded careers for two selected clubs. It is a reference tool, not the live match validator. A missing web record does not prove that no footballer connects the clubs; send a correction through the data-source page when you have supporting evidence.

What kind of football quiz is this?
CrossOver Football is an association-football trivia game about players and their club connections, not betting or match-score predictions. Shared-player duels and football tic-tac-toe have different rules.
- Where can I play, and is it free?
The iOS app and mobile Club × Club mode are free. Mobile Football Tic-Tac-Toe and the other Social Pack modes require an active paid Social Pack. Browser exercises on this site are free and are not the same experience as mobile matches. Android is not yet released.
- Can I play with friends or on my own?
In the mobile app, use a room code to challenge a friend or practise against a bot. Internet is required, including for bot matches. Quick Match may provide a bot when no suitable player is available.
- How are answers checked?
Answers are checked against career records, which can include loans or academy spells. A record alone does not establish a senior competitive appearance. The web archive and mobile game pool can differ.
